Karen brings AfriMed Network an expansive understanding of government relations, donor development, and the law. Over the past five years, Karen has focused her professional efforts on donor development as an Executive Director of a non-profit and Development Director at various private schools in the Massachusetts area. Her previous professional experience was focused on legislative and government relations in the Washington, DC area.

Karen served as Legal Counsel for the Majority Staff for the House Financial Services Committee, Chief of Staff to a member of Congress, as a federal lobbyist at a national banking association, and at a national law firm. Karen’s career started out in Springfield, Illinois where she served as a legislative counsel to the State House of Representatives working on various civil litigation issues and coordinating the legislative agenda for the Illinois Secretary of State.

She has also served on the government relations team for a $100 billion Fortune 500 company out of Dallas, Texas. Karen is a graduate of Loyola University (’94) and Chicago-Kent College of Law (’97). She is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, Illinois, and the District of Columbia.
