YAMOUSSOUKRO, COTE D’IVOIRE – As part of its outreach to create an innovative level of healthcare for rural Cote d’Ivoire, AfriMed Network has announced that it has created a partnership program with a number of area NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) in and around the Cote d’Ivoire capital of Yamoussoukro. The program will provide smaller, minimally-financed organizations access to AfriMed Network as a collaborative clearinghouse for their activities.

“Our efforts to reach out to these smaller NGOs who have limited means will allow them a new platform of communication and information sharing,” indicated Ray Koffi, Africa Chief Operating Officer for AfriMed. “These organizations are doing so much to identify health and family issues dealing with Malaria, HIV Aids, and nutritional deficiencies, to name but a few of the challenges facing so many Ivorians who have very limited or no access to basic medical care. We are honored to be able to extend a helping hand in the underserved villages and municipalities.”

Mr. Koffi is a naturalized U.S. citizen who came to the United States from Cote d’Ivoire at age 21. “I am excited to see the beginning of a program that will leave a positive and long-lasting footprint for Cote d’Ivoire and the West African region for generations to come,” concluded Mr. Koffi.

Yamoussoukro is the fifth most populous city in Ivory Coast. It is located 240 kilometers (150 miles) north-west of Abidjan. Yamoussoukro became the legal capital of the Ivory Coast in 1983, although the former capital Abidjan retains several political functions.

The first group of NGOs partnering with AfriMed Network include Alade’FodevieIresaMien Ra Souh, and Renaissance Sante’ Bouake’.
